<br />
I have sat down to write this post a few times and just never seem to get it right. I have done the usual after Christmas packing away and cleaning. I have a huge supply of cleaners and find I use less and less of the chemical stuff. I can remember being in my bathroom and inhaling some pretty nasty fumes. For the past year I have been switching over to natural cleaners, lotions and such. I have found I lean towards a lot of Mrs. Myers, Seventh Generation and Method products. I love their scents and they work really well. I had a bit of a problem just cleaning out some of my old cleaners, but I am slowly getting there.<br />
<br />
I joined <a href="https://www.grove.co/referrer/523415/" target="_blank">Grove Collaborative</a> around Christmas time. They had a scent called Iowa Pine. It is so refreshing and clean smelling. I have never seen it in my local Target. Now imagine my surprise at home many products I could get and they were less money than Target. I love their Rosemary and their Geranium scents too. Then they have these Walnut scrubber sponges that I adore.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-jtpGxufzZts/WH6CmJmdNJI/AAAAAAAAEzA/TV1QPqysnJo9WLdCS_6aQjc8Pfe1tgDEQCLcB/s1600/Blog%2Bstuff%2B2017%2B001.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="266" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-jtpGxufzZts/WH6CmJmdNJI/AAAAAAAAEzA/TV1QPqysnJo9WLdCS_6aQjc8Pfe1tgDEQCLcB/s400/Blog%2Bstuff%2B2017%2B001.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>

<br />
This was my first order and I loved everything! The toilet bowl cleaner was awesome. We have iron in our water and the bowl is a daily chore....now I can go a couple days and it looks great.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-lWJVTuaQFmc/WH6DRk6eEBI/AAAAAAAAEzI/FPOoHK9T6ZkhWyxt4WSNNRVZsoQLqR-rwCLcB/s1600/Blog%2Bstuff%2B2017%2B007.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="266" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-lWJVTuaQFmc/WH6DRk6eEBI/AAAAAAAAEzI/FPOoHK9T6ZkhWyxt4WSNNRVZsoQLqR-rwCLcB/s400/Blog%2Bstuff%2B2017%2B007.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
This is what came today! I got a couple things I have never seen in stores. Mrs. Myers Geranium scented hand lotion and Blood Orange hand sanitizer spray. This time of year everyone seems to be snuffing. Love the little tote...that came free with my order<br />
<br />
So for now I am cleaning out my closet with cleaners and such and enjoying the new fresh scents.<br />
So if you have some interest you can go here <a href="https://www.grove.co/referrer/523415/" target="_blank">Grove Collaborative</a> This is a sign up for monthly deliveries company, but you can stop at anytime change your order or products. I know I have been away from blogging all summer. I have just hit a wall and I seriously have thought I would just let it go. I have had a couple of sweet emails wondering where I am and what is going on. Am I OK? So yes I am OK and I will try a little catch up.<br />
<br />
In May I planted 80 Dahlia tubers. They came up beautifully and gave me much pleasure this summer.<br />
<br />
Also in May my son got married and we got our first daughter in law along with her two sweet children.<br />
My grand daughter had her senior prom that weekend too.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Then came my Dahlias which I planted just before I had my knee replaced. That is a long story of surgery and recovery. We can skip right over it. My gardens suffered a bit while I recuperated, The Dahlias I got from <a href="http://www.edenbrothers.com/store/flower_bulbs.html?utm_source=Copy+of+11%2F8%2F16+Today+only%3A+25%25+off+all+fall+bulbs+%26+perennials%21++Immediate+ship&utm_campaign=11102016+25off+bulbsan" target="_blank">Eden Brothers </a>were the best. I cut flowers every day and loved having them in my home. Such a pretty bright spot they were. I ordered and bought from other sources, but these did the best for me.<br />

Then one of our granddaughter's volley ball team is going to the playoffs and she was named All-Star for her school! It is her senior year this year.<br />
<br />
I also got a little time with my friend and the kayak.<br />

That is a brief recap of my summer. My Aunt from Ohio came to visit and my Sister and Niece came from Texas. It has been a great summer even though it flew by.<br />
<br />
Last month I was installed as President of my local garden club and I am looking forward to more time with all my friends in gardening.<br />
<br />
I have another little bit of news too. I decided to retire to enjoy some of the many blessings I have. My hubby is retiring at the end of January. We hope to have some day trips and leisure time in the garden. We have both had fast paced, stressful jobs, so we hope to get to enjoy life a bit. Funny thing is now that I thought I would have more time it seems like days just fly by, but I am adjusting quite well and enjoying every minute of it.<br />
<br />
So if you are still out there and haven't given up on me, let me know.<br />
<br />
Hugs,<br />

<br />
I can't believe it has been two months since I did a post. Time is flying by. So let me fill you in on what is going on in my Country Nest. First of all we have a wedding in two and a half weeks. My oldest son is getting married. He is marrying a girl who is perfect for him and you can feel the love! He has been home and I hope he never deploys again. I love my country, but I love my son more and three times is too much. I do know of others who have been more and God bless them and keep them safe. It is a huge sacrifice for the whole family. I am thankful for all the service men and woman who keep us safe,<br />
<br />
Our Garden Club has it's annual plant sale this weekend and there is lots of behind the scenes work that needed to be done. I have never met such a great group of women all with a similar interests. I have made signs, potted up plants and enjoyed great conversations. I have been in Garden Club for about eight years and have learned so much. I want to take the Master Gardener course. I hope to do this next year.<br />
<br />
So the new living room set came in and I love it. It is a simple plain fabric. Except for the accent chair and footstool. It is a bold print with charcoal, caramel and mocha brown colors. We got a couple matching pillows too. Bassett design it yourself allowed us to get a couch and love seat of similar style to our old one. No sooner did we get the new furniture and the washing machine died. Then we went out for the new washer and dryer. I didn't think I wanted them, but they are really nice. A lot has changed in 13 years. Then with all the windy days our fence around the pool needed new posts so that got done too. It has been busy for sure.<br />
<br />
The best news of all is Spring is unfurling the leaves on the trees and there is a warm earthy smell to<br />
the air. I love the renewal phase. Pulling out the garden furniture and pots for planting. Buying lots of pretty flowers and planting a garden. The temps need to come up a bit, but we are having a week of soft gentle rain which will bring the plants and leaves out. I smells so pretty.<br />
<br />
My other news is that I am going in for knee replacement surgery. I have injured it several times and there are complications that need to be addressed. I will be going in after the wedding to get this done. Maybe in my downtime I will have more time to post. Get ready for the flower pictures.<br />

The daylight hours are getting longer and that gets me looking forward to Spring. The Chickens are laying more eggs and the temps are better.<br />
<br />
This year I want to try something new. I want to plant some Dahlias and Asters and Zinnias. I want a cutting garden. I am trying to work less and have more time to garden. We keep cutting down trees, but we are at our property line. The neighbor joined us and cut some down but sadly it isn't enough. I have a 25x25' plot which has some perennials and a huge Limelight hydrangea in it. So I want to put a couple of 4'x12' raised beds on the right side of this plot. I am hoping they get more sunshine here. I have been ordering away and have some plans drawn up. I can't wait to see how they do this year. Here is my plot cleaned up. I did it last weekend and I don't think I have ever had it done by the end of February. My chicken droppings have gone in the compost for the past year so I am hoping it will help my garden grow too.<br />

The potting shed got a little color for Spring while I was out there. I can't wait to clean her out and be able to putter in my happy place. With the windows open and a warm breeze in the air.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-n3TM9FkH8W0/VtdhV3RGsWI/AAAAAAAAErQ/EQoaSZ0mRyM/s1600/IMG_1857.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="425" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-n3TM9FkH8W0/VtdhV3RGsWI/AAAAAAAAErQ/EQoaSZ0mRyM/s640/IMG_1857.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
I can't wait for it to be like this again. Isn't it hard to believe that this is the spot where my second picture was taken?<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

On a completely different subject I have put this set on Craigslist because I finally ordered a new set that should be here in about 3 weeks. The new set has the same lines. This set has been comfortable and has lasted so well. It is 18 yrs. old. I have been procrastinating for the last five years. It is just starting to show some wear on the corners. I hope we find someone to take it off our hands or I will be parking outside.<br />
<br />

It seems that in February we are going to get all the snow we had not had yet. So when I am stuck in the house I bake, purge or clean. Today I baked. These little hand pies were a big hit in my house.<br />
The recipe makes 8 little pies. Just a nice amount. Except they disappeared quickly.<br />
<br />
I choose to use a blueberry filling, but you could use most anything your heart desires;<br />
I found the recipe on the<a href="http://www.kingarthurflour.com/recipes/blueberry-hand-pies-recipe" target="_blank"> King Arthur Flour</a> site. I love this site and have never been disappointed with anything I have made from here. This one will be into my Go To book.<br />
<br />
One of my projects is to neaten up my recipes. I have books of clipping and printed sheets. I want to make a Go To book for all the recipes I use all the time and save the binders for when I am looking for something more or different. I will share these later on. <br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-sQA6OESoRHs/VrtYS2ht4EI/AAAAAAAAEq0/QfPOBpGfO_A/s1600/IMG_1836.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="266" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-sQA6OESoRHs/VrtYS2ht4EI/AAAAAAAAEq0/QfPOBpGfO_A/s400/IMG_1836.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Oops, notice one is already gone? Well I had to taste test! Yum!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-9EAY1mfhLL4/VrtYSwRKlQI/AAAAAAAAEqw/i1-rexOuxRI/s1600/IMG_1835.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="266" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-9EAY1mfhLL4/VrtYSwRKlQI/AAAAAAAAEqw/i1-rexOuxRI/s400/IMG_1835.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Do you have a favorite website or storage idea for recipes? I have a large red binder that is too cumbersome. Then 2 smaller binders for deserts and cookies. My recipe box that I have had for 43 yrs. I still know which cards are in there, some from my Mom, some from others no longer with us. I am too sentimental to get rid of that. So what do you do?</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I am making progress on the Cricut. Their customer support has been oh so helpful. I am learning about the many layers on the program. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<br />
The weather feels like Spring! Wow it is 60 degrees and the girls are enjoying their time outside.<br />
The rest of the snow should disappear today!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-zGdZkjmuSkA/Vq-Z8SK4QeI/AAAAAAAAEp0/-XjfZPVvslY/s1600/IMG_1823.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="267" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-zGdZkjmuSkA/Vq-Z8SK4QeI/AAAAAAAAEp0/-XjfZPVvslY/s400/IMG_1823.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
So I felt like making an apple pie. What is it about sunshine and warmth that makes me so happy?<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I have another question. I just bought a Cricut machine. I wanted to use it to make signs.....I did research and looked ALOT. Now that I have it, ahhhh it seems complicated and I am not sure I can do what I want. Does anyone else have experience with it? I have been watching tutorials and am a bit frustrated to say the least. HELP???</div>

What is a snowy day like for you? When I woke in the morning it was grey and a bit gloomy. With the news hammering us about the pending storm I thought I had better prepare. The sky spoke loudly of the snow to come. I got up and did some cleaning. Then I made some french toast for the hubby,<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-fIPMD-MjDbw/VqTtkZbqqnI/AAAAAAAAEnA/RXYbVK88tgw/s1600/IMG_1766.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-fIPMD-MjDbw/VqTtkZbqqnI/AAAAAAAAEnA/RXYbVK88tgw/s640/IMG_1766.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Then I headed outside to check on the girls. They got fresh water and fresh feed. They don't like the snow and will fly over it whenever they can.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-pmHEt4FH3ZI/VqTuiRoGptI/AAAAAAAAEnM/BOsVWur1pDc/s1600/IMG_1774.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-pmHEt4FH3ZI/VqTuiRoGptI/AAAAAAAAEnM/BOsVWur1pDc/s640/IMG_1774.JPG" width="426" /></a></div>
I love to have soup on a winter day. Roasted-potato-fennel soup from The Bare Foot Contessa is a family favorite.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-XHWtIxV87zY/VqTuiPHpCKI/AAAAAAAAEnI/tmsU8d4JVmE/s1600/IMG_1776.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-XHWtIxV87zY/VqTuiPHpCKI/AAAAAAAAEnI/tmsU8d4JVmE/s640/IMG_1776.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
Saute the onions and fennel.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-prWcMf0NGsk/VqTuie8HJ_I/AAAAAAAAEnQ/3E3u9amInRo/s1600/IMG_1777.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-prWcMf0NGsk/VqTuie8HJ_I/AAAAAAAAEnQ/3E3u9amInRo/s640/IMG_1777.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
Add the quartered unpeeled roasted potatoes along with your chicken stock. Cover and bring to a boil.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-fDDerNE17pc/VqTuicR5RfI/AAAAAAAAEnU/JtSgxGW6-Q4/s1600/IMG_1778.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-fDDerNE17pc/VqTuicR5RfI/AAAAAAAAEnU/JtSgxGW6-Q4/s640/IMG_1778.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
Add the cream and then I use my submersible stick blender. I personally like a few chucks of potato so I have more control this way.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-UwoGe_UMomU/VqTuivBagZI/AAAAAAAAEnY/cnmaSdQhkVs/s1600/IMG_1779.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-UwoGe_UMomU/VqTuivBagZI/AAAAAAAAEnY/cnmaSdQhkVs/s640/IMG_1779.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Serve with Italian bread and prepare for a satisfied tummy.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Huy7eCwDLOQ/VqTuyWEw4HI/AAAAAAAAEn4/B2L3UutkcEs/s1600/IMG_1782.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="370" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Huy7eCwDLOQ/VqTuyWEw4HI/AAAAAAAAEn4/B2L3UutkcEs/s640/IMG_1782.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
The chalk board at my backdoor. It is winter after all.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Ryv-Nh8pWBc/VqTuyKsZEBI/AAAAAAAAEn0/ziGWcaV0ORQ/s1600/IMG_1791.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Ryv-Nh8pWBc/VqTuyKsZEBI/AAAAAAAAEn0/ziGWcaV0ORQ/s640/IMG_1791.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-6Ep1AtHhuTs/VqTuyLcH0cI/AAAAAAAAEnw/wK9QFAPazTk/s1600/IMG_1792.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-6Ep1AtHhuTs/VqTuyLcH0cI/AAAAAAAAEnw/wK9QFAPazTk/s640/IMG_1792.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
It is always nice to have some friends over for coffee and dessert. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-YYETwcpG7ds/VqTu6qE_S5I/AAAAAAAAEoQ/NGsbgURwedY/s1600/IMG_1796.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-YYETwcpG7ds/VqTu6qE_S5I/AAAAAAAAEoQ/NGsbgURwedY/s640/IMG_1796.JPG" width="426" /></a></div>
The candle lights cast a pretty glow when skies are dark. It makes everything feel cozy.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-wUj2dmDxYlk/VqTu6rZpeTI/AAAAAAAAEoM/ed0EppspTfQ/s1600/IMG_1797.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-wUj2dmDxYlk/VqTu6rZpeTI/AAAAAAAAEoM/ed0EppspTfQ/s640/IMG_1797.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
Some of my winter decorations grace my kitchen. Anyone for a snowball fight?<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-eirNd9ne5iY/VqTu6oM4IHI/AAAAAAAAEoI/bgE_LN5qpOc/s1600/IMG_1798.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-eirNd9ne5iY/VqTu6oM4IHI/AAAAAAAAEoI/bgE_LN5qpOc/s640/IMG_1798.JPG" width="426" /></a></div>
I try to be sure the pantry is stocked for winter. I always have provisions for soups, sandwiches and lots of baking supplies. I love to heat up the oven and bake. This time we have Wowie cake and hand-pies. YUM<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Q27D72TKqrs/VqTu63D9O8I/AAAAAAAAEoU/UUszCMAUwRE/s1600/IMG_1800.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Q27D72TKqrs/VqTu63D9O8I/AAAAAAAAEoU/UUszCMAUwRE/s640/IMG_1800.JPG" width="426" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Today we have 8-10 inches of snow. The house and tress are covered. It doesn't feel bad because we haven't had much snow this winter. It is wet and sticks to everything making it look pretty. When the sun comes out it will all slide off.</div>

<br />
<br />
As 2015 comes to a close it is a time to reflect and to set goals. I create new lists and start going through seed catalogs planning next's years blooms. We spend New Years Day quietly at home. A nice breakfast then we put all the Christmas stuff away. I am so ready, but the tradition has always been New Years Day for us. I never put it up until after Thanksgiving. I have noticed how many of my blog land friends put it up earlier and then right down after Christmas. When do you do yours?<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-F9t7-lQfy_A/VoQhbR9GCDI/AAAAAAAAElo/7tkT-H3jkOg/s1600/IMG_1750.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-F9t7-lQfy_A/VoQhbR9GCDI/AAAAAAAAElo/7tkT-H3jkOg/s640/IMG_1750.JPG" width="426" /></a></div>
My boys are looking for their gifts. My two older cats check out every gift as it goes under the tree and the little one was so curious.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-EvnfqDsqo_A/VoQhbeCsh_I/AAAAAAAAElw/dU6FsBr88gg/s1600/IMG_1755.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-EvnfqDsqo_A/VoQhbeCsh_I/AAAAAAAAElw/dU6FsBr88gg/s640/IMG_1755.JPG" width="426" /></a></div>

My girlfriend gave me this cute cup for my morning coffee~<br />

Christmas Eve was so warm here 70 degrees. The cat was out and the hens were taking dust baths. We were outside taking every bit of warm air in. In the 43 years we have been in this house I never remember sitting outside on Christmas eve. Especially with out a coat on.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
The sweet little one who turned out to be a boy so he is called Fluffy. He stayed by my side all the while I was sick. Lots of loves and purring. He is just a wonderful cat!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-G4Gg7-28uNQ/VoQhdPSsajI/AAAAAAAAEmU/T2YiuUsbMzo/s1600/IMG_20151226_143356342.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-G4Gg7-28uNQ/VoQhdPSsajI/AAAAAAAAEmU/T2YiuUsbMzo/s640/IMG_20151226_143356342.jpg" width="360" /></a></div>
The girls got the seed ring and notice the clear plastic wind break too. They needed it yesterday as the rain whipped and it was raw and cold. They stayed snug as a bug in a rug.....of course no bug would survive my girls!<br />

The day before Christmas I felt a cold coming on....I pushed through the baking. I was not enjoying myself at all. Thank goodness my shopping and wrapping was all done. My daughter came down the day before. She wanted to do a bit of baking herself. I usually would enjoy working together, but my nose was filled, my eyes were burning and I was feeling clammy. How could this be? I haven't been really sick for several years...a slight cold last year but it could have been allergies. I started juicing about 4 yrs ago and have been quite healthy. Then I realize the last few weeks have been crazy busy and I have barely been juicing. My resistance was giving me trouble, like pneumonia twice in a year. I have a great Doctor who recommended instead of medicine I should work to build my resistance up. Needless to say both hubby and I have been quite healthy. Oh why on Christmas? You guessed it, by Christmas I felt totally like crap! My family came anyway and I probably infected them all. My daughter is home sick in bed now.<br />
<br />
Who would have guessed that on Christmas eve we sat outside watching the chickens. We did not need a jacket. Christmas day was more of the same. Hubby let the girls out early on Christmas day. The Grandchildren held and played with the girls and I understand they got lots of treats and snuggles.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-SS_MsYMlP4w/VoG2A_F7vTI/AAAAAAAAElY/HZ53HJMrs04/s1600/Kaylee%2Band%2BMolly.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-SS_MsYMlP4w/VoG2A_F7vTI/AAAAAAAAElY/HZ53HJMrs04/s640/Kaylee%2Band%2BMolly.jpg" width="352" /></a></div>
<br />
My granddaughter and Molly! No boots, gloves or jackets. Such a great day!<br />
The girls helped get everything ready and I was not a lot of help. The day turned out fine, but I couldn't wait to get into bed that night.<br />
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-_Rl54aMJ04Y/VnRur6-foXI/AAAAAAAAEkY/99X1mG6oLT8/s1600/IMG_1729.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-_Rl54aMJ04Y/VnRur6-foXI/AAAAAAAAEkY/99X1mG6oLT8/s640/IMG_1729.JPG" width="426" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
A peek into the living room. I still need a bit of tweaking to be done. I have been having a hard time with ideas for presents this year and it is bogging me down a bit. I had cut my greens and tried to get the outside done first. I have not put some of my usual items out. I think it is time to simplify and get rid of some things. </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-xcllCKQAOdc/VnRuwyc1YPI/AAAAAAAAEks/C7zJ4QhTkhI/s1600/IMG_1731.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-xcllCKQAOdc/VnRuwyc1YPI/AAAAAAAAEks/C7zJ4QhTkhI/s640/IMG_1731.JPG" width="538" /></a></div>
This is all I did for my back door into the kitchen. Just a few greens, my porch door has a wreath with just a simple red bow.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-wwo6aEavs1Y/VnRuwqbWxbI/AAAAAAAAEkk/pBi27vO6uOs/s1600/IMG_1732.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-wwo6aEavs1Y/VnRuwqbWxbI/AAAAAAAAEkk/pBi27vO6uOs/s640/IMG_1732.JPG" width="426" /></a></div>

<br />
I think this north side of the house needs a good power washing, but getting my hubby to do it is a chore and it is getting cooler here.<br />
<br />
I really need to finish up shopping so I can get to my baking. I don't know what I need to get me going. Any suggestions? Are you all done decorating, shopping and baking?<br />

<br />
<span style="color: #660000; font-size: x-large;"><br /></span>
<b><i><span style="color: #990000; font-size: x-large;">CHRISTMAS!</span></i></b><br />
Beginning with my Arnett's Santas. I love these Santa's so much. I always pull them out first and start there. I have so many things I have to put away before I can bring out my Christmas decorations. It take most of a day to put all my pumpkins and harvest decorations. That is not to mention all the dishes that were pulled out for Thanksgiving. They need to be stored.....<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-f20sL8Lf4xs/Vl3WOM6mBtI/AAAAAAAAEh8/IYKYgpRDjMQ/s1600/Dec%2B2015%2B005.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-f20sL8Lf4xs/Vl3WOM6mBtI/AAAAAAAAEh8/IYKYgpRDjMQ/s640/Dec%2B2015%2B005.JPG" width="426" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Now the weather was frightful this morning 22 degrees out. I worry about my poor babies, the girls! They have lots of hay in the hen house. I wanted something more this morning, so I brought out some warm water and a dish of oatmeal with raisins and cranberries. The funny thing is I seem more bothered by the cold then them. They did gobble the oatmeal right down.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-6PRAgUFAK4E/Vl3WP8Yr-QI/AAAAAAAAEiE/ypas2b5sH2w/s1600/Dec%2B2015%2B008.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-6PRAgUFAK4E/Vl3WP8Yr-QI/AAAAAAAAEiE/ypas2b5sH2w/s640/Dec%2B2015%2B008.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-p-iWMCQ3iT4/Vl3WTPpWIQI/AAAAAAAAEiM/lDuDb6G_z5c/s1600/Dec%2B2015%2B011.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-p-iWMCQ3iT4/Vl3WTPpWIQI/AAAAAAAAEiM/lDuDb6G_z5c/s640/Dec%2B2015%2B011.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
One of my favorite Santa's</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/--v47Ve-Vo4c/Vl3WU7YqVeI/AAAAAAAAEiU/WDkysfWupC4/s1600/Dec%2B2015%2B006.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/--v47Ve-Vo4c/Vl3WU7YqVeI/AAAAAAAAEiU/WDkysfWupC4/s640/Dec%2B2015%2B006.JPG" width="426" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I need to go out to get my wreaths and greens today. Now I was wondering, do you decorate a room at a time? If so which one? Do you do outside or inside first. All at once or a little at a time?</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I always start with my window lights and my Santas and kind of go from there. Then I cut my greens and get my wreaths.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
You know as we get ready for Christmas here I have noticed how much my chickens have changed our lives I get up,dressed and outside to let the girls out and feed them their breakfast.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I have added some new fashion pieces to my wardrobe......fleece lined hoodies, muck shoes, flannel shirts to name a few. Much easier to wash. I try to get home while it is still light out so I can let the girls out for some free range time. They run, spread their wings and look for bugs and greens. They just make me happy. I love to watch them run to me.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So I am going to get some Christmas pictures taken and posted, but do tell where do you start?</div>

<br />
I do believe our October was colder than November has been so far. The sunny clear days that are hitting 70 degrees when normal is 50. It has been a delight! Love the extra time to clean up the gardens and the tons of leaves! The Morning Glories are all gone.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-SMFia8_5pvE/Vjp0pw3DB8I/AAAAAAAAEg8/qHyrZD3vsnE/s1600/fall%2B2015%2B046.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-SMFia8_5pvE/Vjp0pw3DB8I/AAAAAAAAEg8/qHyrZD3vsnE/s640/fall%2B2015%2B046.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
The girls have a nice new roost. It took a couple of days, but the four older hens roost each night and the younger one are on the lower roost they had before. I was so happy to get the dog cage out of there. Hubby sanded everything nice and smooth and his idea for the wings so no draft from the vents would hit the girls. He filled the bin with sand. Boy is that easy to clean.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-yWveu6N0O9w/Vjp0sfx0HQI/AAAAAAAAEhE/8bxdC1vDZ58/s1600/fall%2B2015%2B044.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-yWveu6N0O9w/Vjp0sfx0HQI/AAAAAAAAEhE/8bxdC1vDZ58/s640/fall%2B2015%2B044.JPG" width="426" /></a></div>
The girls are enjoying their pumpkin treat. They gobbled it up right down to the skin.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-IIPsqDFlcd0/Vjp0uJEDAkI/AAAAAAAAEhM/iagJQRE1bAA/s1600/fall%2B2015%2B031.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="384" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-IIPsqDFlcd0/Vjp0uJEDAkI/AAAAAAAAEhM/iagJQRE1bAA/s640/fall%2B2015%2B031.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
Just a peek. The yard glows red this time of year. It is so pretty and the air is perfect. As you can see the pool is all closed up for winter.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-yKSXCJfI_Gw/Vjp00PFo_QI/AAAAAAAAEhU/tZsM6xVMqQY/s1600/fall%2B2015%2B050.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-yKSXCJfI_Gw/Vjp00PFo_QI/AAAAAAAAEhU/tZsM6xVMqQY/s640/fall%2B2015%2B050.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
This is a view of the garden I take pictures of all the time...all tucked in for winter too.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-NCyeybIg-KM/Vjp02DNx7WI/AAAAAAAAEhc/E5BTSfUXgHw/s1600/fall%2B2015%2B055.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-NCyeybIg-KM/Vjp02DNx7WI/AAAAAAAAEhc/E5BTSfUXgHw/s640/fall%2B2015%2B055.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Just in case you forgot this is how it looked this summer....</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-gBqNIfzmhDg/VjqE4C7uBSI/AAAAAAAAEhs/2s51G_cSi0E/s1600/IMG_1494.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-gBqNIfzmhDg/VjqE4C7uBSI/AAAAAAAAEhs/2s51G_cSi0E/s640/IMG_1494.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
So I have been working away, all Cannas plants removed and stored away, all Dahlias dug, cleaned and stored. Today I got all my Zinnia and Marigold seeds cleaned and put into labeled jars, ready for next Spring. I have been going out each day to cut back and clean up another bed. The yard was looking pretty darn good, but today it has started to rain leaves....all day long too. You can't find our driveway or lawn.<br />
<br />
~ahhh Hello November~<br />

The end of the season and the beginning of a new one. I am sure you are tired of my chicken pictures so I will change it up a bit. My grandson lives in the city and they came down for a small family party this weekend. He loves cupcakes so this is what we did.<br />

<br />
<br />
It was just a small party, family only, but the kids love their Halloween stuff so we did this and had lots of fun and laughter. my Grandchildren are getting so grown up at 21, 18 and the girls are 16. Time does fly. I am trying to slow down and savor the moments and this was one of them!<br />

<br />
Meet Miss Molly~ She is my daredevil, the first to try things and the first out in the morning. She give nuzzles and makes sweet noises and when I go in the house she runs to the deck and peeks in at me! She leaves me a pretty pink egg each day.<br />

When I put the herbs in the nesting boxes Molly is the first one to poke her head in there and take out her favorites.</div>

A couple of weeks ago we went to <a href="http://www.pettengillfarm.com/pages/VintageBazaar.html" target="_blank">The Vintage Bazaar </a>in Salisbury,MA It was a beautiful fall day, clear skies, sunshine, just perfect. Well I found these sweet fairy houses by Babacool Arts. I met Yvette Monstad who has just moved here. I wish I had taken pictures while there. She works in metal and clay. Oh I loved everything. I bought two pieces. This one is in my front garden. (she said I can leave them out all year round) Love the working door on it.<br />

Summer has flown by..I think it was the chickens that made it go so fast. That and the simply beautiful weather we had. Lots of sunshine. I am so sad to see it go, but I do love fall. It is a favorite of mine in all ways except it means nasty old winter is coming. I hate the cold and the ice, the salt on the roads and snow. I love how pretty it is when it falls, but then you have to move it and with salt and sand it gets dirty. Anyway back to the glorious days of Fall. The cool dry air, clear days and crisp nights. The smell of wood smoke will linger in the air. Pumpkin bread in the oven and apple cider simmering on the stove...ahh fall!<br />
<br />
I notice how my gardens are passing by. The sedums are in full bloom and my grasses are getting their tassels. They look so pretty. I see a scattering of leaves on the lawn in the morning. We will need to close up the pool soon and I will miss the sound of the waterfall in the summer breeze.<br />
<br />
Last weekend I got the cornstalks out and some mums planted. I got out some of my Harvest decorations. So come see what I have been up to. The mailbox is the first to get a little attention.<br />
<br />

My old wheelbarrow got a bit of Fall color and a couple of pumpkins.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Our project this summer was to add some large stones to the front yard. This one was placed so I could add some seasonal color around it.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-CiAIfQrvFKw/VgNNAqiM78I/AAAAAAAAEcY/QfR0a-Cuue8/s1600/Fall%2B2015%2B002.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-CiAIfQrvFKw/VgNNAqiM78I/AAAAAAAAEcY/QfR0a-Cuue8/s640/Fall%2B2015%2B002.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

What do you think? It breaks up the large natural part of our front yard and gives me something to plant around.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

The garden I have shown you at different times this summer. The phlox are on the second bloom and notice the sedums. They are lush this year. This is my gardens last hurrah. I am sad to see them go by.<br />

The girls are giving us about 3 eggs a day. They have just started and the days are getting short so I just have to wait and see how that goes. My grandson makes himself eggs each morning. He just loves the fact they are so fresh.<br />

So that is what has been going on at the country nest these days as summer ends and we welcome fall I continue to harvest my herbs for the girls and have been drying them for winter use.<br />
Hope you come back to visit as our trees turn beautiful colors and those crisp days bring out sweaters and warm fires.....Can't you just smell it in the air?<br />

I planted some seeds in a pot with a trellis. There was a windy day and I lost my plants, so I stared again and it seems like forever, but we now have some blooms. No matter how many times I plant Morning Glories the flowers just amaze me. So beautiful, such a beautiful shade of blue. I will hate to see them go by. Do you have any favorites? I love the bright and vibrant zinnias in bloom right now too. They are like happy, sunny faces smiling up at me. The colors are like Fiesta dinnerware. They just make me smile.</div>

<br />
The weather here has been hot and humid. The chickens have been out free ranging to find some cool space under the trees. They love being out, but I usually supervise to be safe. They love stealing tomatoes from the garden and eat up lots of pesty bugs. The flowers are blooming nicely and it really is dog days of August. Hope you all have nice weather where you are.<br />
<br />
We have a project under way in the front yard, but I will save that until next time.<br />

These two rascals are Lucy and Pumpkin. They are still in the small cage so I like to let them out each day. They don't wander as much as the other four and they are just so sweet. <br />

Pumpkin is the smallest of all, but the most loving....she loves to be held and she will coo and make sweet noises. I've already told hubby if they never accept her I want to build her own space. She can have peace and lots of loves from her humans.<br />

<br />
Warm summer days and the fruits of the season had me craving a jelly my Mom used to make. I have always loved it. That and strawberry rhubarb pie. It must be all that Farm Girl inspiration from Deb over at Dandelion House.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
My finished jelly. I love how it looks and let me tell you it tastes even better. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
It is really simple to make first I gathered and washed my jars and lids. Got out my big old canning kettle that was my Moms. I have had it for over 40 years now. My Mom spent many hours with this old kettle...canning jellies, blueberries, tomatoes, string beans. She would store them in the basement on these shelves my Dad had built just for her preserves. Oh boy my sister and I were just talking about Mom's blueberries and the time we spent picking them. It was a special treat when we had blueberries and dumplings for dinner. It was like dessert. You see I get sidetracked...happens all the time. You need 2 Cups strawberries and 2 Cups of cut up rhubarb, 4 TBSP of Lemon juice. I Pkg of dry fruit pectin and 5 1/2 Cups of sugar.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Anyway combine strawberries( I crush mine) and rhubarb along with lemon juice in a large pot. Mix in pectin until dissolved. Bring to a boil over high heat stir constantly. Add all the sugar at once return to a full rolling boil continue stirring. Boil hard for about a minute Remove from heat and skim off any foam.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Ladle the hot jam into jars leaving some head</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
space. Wipe any drips around the rim. I use a large canning funnel for such things. Keeps my rim clean, Remove air bubbles by sliding a knife down around the edges.Center lids and screw on bands until tight. Place jars in canning kettle and make sure they are covered with water. Bring to a boil and process for about 10 minutes. Wait a few minutes and then remove jars carefully, don't burn your self. I have special tongs, bought anywhere they sell canning supplies. Let the jars sit and you will hear the lids pop. Now my Mom used to put wax on top. I don't know why and I wish she were here to ask. After they have cooled store in a cool dry place and ENJOY!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

The pool temp is at a balmy 82 degrees and is still refreshing on a hot day. So after we are done working in the gardens we jump in!! What do you do to cool off?<br />

<br />
The weather here on Sunday was cool and wet. Lots of rain and drizzle. A while back when chickens were my dream....my sister told me about a blog called Dandelion House. When I first opened the page I fell in love! This little red hen house was the blog header. As I read further Deb had lots of pictures of her hen house and gardens. I kept reading...scrolling backward. I loved everything and felt I had met someone with similar interests. The hen house....I wanted the same hen house. I saved her pictures, I should have named the Pinterest board <span id="goog_490843780"></span><a href="http://www.deborahjeansdandelionhouse.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Dandelion House</a> <span id="goog_490843781"></span>instead of chickens. Then I started printing them out. My hubby actually said, yes I like that one. I think it will fit in.. So it started. He got supplies, the first of many trips to Lowes. I got the brooder box all set up. I got my feed. Then I got my first four chicks. Then through comments and emails I found that Deb did not live to far from me. Can you say delighted? Deb invited us down to view her hen house. HEAVEN!!<br />
I was not disappointed! The hen house a delight, but best of all was the family we met. We talked and talked about everything and anything. Did I take pictures you ask? No of course not. While we spent our weekends working on our own little hen house. Deb gave me some valuable pointers on what she would change and it really helped. We are about complete, the hens are living out there now. We invited our inspiration couple over to see our house. Hmmmm photo op for sure, but did I take pictures? No. Deb did take a few. The flowers below were a gift from Deb and Boz. Straight from her pretty gardens. They are beautiful. Thank you!<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So we had a light breakfast and passed what would have been a drizzly, raw, dark Sunday with friends warm coffee and pastries and great conversation.</div>

<br />
I just sat down tonight and I honestly can't believe it has been almost a month since I posted. I have been really busy with work and have not had enough time in my garden. Then there are the moments spent with my chickens.....I am hooked.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-6qC3_OVv_DM/VYtcSKBSppI/AAAAAAAAEUY/-wxoKL3z4g0/s1600/IMG_20150623_142146217.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="360" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-6qC3_OVv_DM/VYtcSKBSppI/AAAAAAAAEUY/-wxoKL3z4g0/s640/IMG_20150623_142146217.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-8aEYqkTsKNI/VYtcW8LSvzI/AAAAAAAAEUg/3aSHz0GsbEg/s1600/IMG_20150623_142130434.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-8aEYqkTsKNI/VYtcW8LSvzI/AAAAAAAAEUg/3aSHz0GsbEg/s640/IMG_20150623_142130434.jpg" width="360" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
I don't want to bore you to death but my original four are about 13 weeks now and the two newer chicks the Araucanas are about 6 weeks now. They are still too small to let out with the larger hens. the larger girls peck and corner them then the babies squeal and I hurry in to the rescue. We keep them in the hen house in a wire crate. They are loving my herbs and lettuce.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-yXYSMkwh36Q/VYtfyf9bS3I/AAAAAAAAEUs/6Z3LEuWL2kM/s1600/IMG_1402.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-yXYSMkwh36Q/VYtfyf9bS3I/AAAAAAAAEUs/6Z3LEuWL2kM/s640/IMG_1402.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Ok I woke her up for the picture, meet Princess. My grandson brought her home and said her owner was going to kill her. He had thrown her and my grandson couldn't stand it. So we now have kitty #3. She is about 5 months old and as sweet as can be. Her name was Smalls, but he renamed her Princess. It seems to suit her, she rules over the two male cats here. Already love her to bits.<br />

<br />
I am so happy our little coop is almost done. My sweet husband has gone above and beyond to make my dream come true. He has been working steady for 5 weeks now. The girls just love it. They watch him and peep away. He is working on the run right now and they come charging to greet him when they see him coming out there.<br />
I planted a pot of their favorite herbs to snip and add to their breakfast. They get so excited when they see me come out with the oats and snip the herbs. My little galvanized bucket came with a hard to get off label, so I painted it with Chalkboard paint and now I have any label I want so Chicken poo it is.<br />

These are a few of what is blooming at the Country Nest. I always love geraniums.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-DdhkLfxVHuU/VWfGlNITmZI/AAAAAAAAETA/u84zBqMln98/s1600/IMG_1330.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="484" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-DdhkLfxVHuU/VWfGlNITmZI/AAAAAAAAETA/u84zBqMln98/s640/IMG_1330.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
I put this iris in last year. It is a tall bearded iris called" Poem of Ecstasy"<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-3yWQ9pk8iXU/VWfGpaus2rI/AAAAAAAAETI/-9odZRcHd3U/s1600/IMG_1358.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="450" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-3yWQ9pk8iXU/VWfGpaus2rI/AAAAAAAAETI/-9odZRcHd3U/s640/IMG_1358.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
We planted these Rhododendrons almost 12 years ago. They are so pretty and have grown so big we had to move one of them. The funny part is we had just bought them the day I got a call that my Mom had passed away....it is kind of bittersweet how pretty they are.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-JQ3JYAwz4lQ/VWfGtTmladI/AAAAAAAAETQ/0vlPsypgz7I/s1600/IMG_1368.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-JQ3JYAwz4lQ/VWfGtTmladI/AAAAAAAAETQ/0vlPsypgz7I/s640/IMG_1368.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
Love this black petunia. I saw it last year and they were sold out. I was so happy to get one this year.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-GV0a2e581bU/VWfGwJjQlyI/AAAAAAAAETY/cE9fgYLmkl8/s1600/IMG_1367.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-GV0a2e581bU/VWfGwJjQlyI/AAAAAAAAETY/cE9fgYLmkl8/s640/IMG_1367.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
Now while I was at the farm getting plants I went into the little greenhouse with the fairy stuff....I wasn't going in, but I am glad I did. I found these gems, just what I wanted Araucana chickens. They were down to their last few so he let me buy just two. I am so happy. So I will show you how they grow. They are about two weeks old now. I am keeping them on my porch right now. Another chapter in our Chicken Chronicles.<br />

<br />
So last Sunday the Hen house was complete. Not the run yet, but the hen house. I brought the sweet babies out to their new home. It was toasty warm here on Sunday. It got so hot we had to improvise screen doors quickly. Sweet hubby did a great job and we cooled it down fast.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-xnfcL0idLzk/VV_ExlOv6-I/AAAAAAAAEQU/Q7FuRSPg99o/s1600/IMG_1343.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="608" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-xnfcL0idLzk/VV_ExlOv6-I/AAAAAAAAEQU/Q7FuRSPg99o/s640/IMG_1343.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
Now I need to tweak and decorate, but we hope to get a run built this weekend.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-WYg5QYLoOpk/VV_Ez4nji9I/AAAAAAAAEQc/9mYBn-z9BxY/s1600/IMG_1337.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-WYg5QYLoOpk/VV_Ez4nji9I/AAAAAAAAEQc/9mYBn-z9BxY/s640/IMG_1337.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
The were outside today and they are all tuckered out. They love their perch and will hop up when they hear us coming out. I usually see one head pop up, then two, then three, then all four...then they all hop up on the roost. So cute.<br />
