I have been feeling a bit creative...and yes, I should be painting my bedroom, but I wanted a few prim valentines, so.....I googled pantry cakes. I found lots of recipes. Most were all about the same. Flour, salt, coffee, coffee grounds, and cinnamon. So I mixed up a batch and made six small heart cakes. Then I used a salt glaze heart I had and made the larger one. I need something more.....so I melted some yummy smelling wax and used some small molds I had, then rubbed them with cinnamon. You can see my results below.
Now, I want to do some cinnamon and applesauce ornaments that I can make with my cookie cutters. Once my brain gets going I keep thinking of stuff I want to make.
I had to make a batch of chocolate chip cookies because everyone kept coming in and saying, what smells so good? What are you making? No one was happy when I said "they are not to eat." So I made a little treat to keep them quiet.
What are you all doing for Valentines decorations?
Love these! I can almost smell them through the computer.

Great job on the hearts! I am like you once my brain starts on something I don't want to stop.
ReplyDeleteI put up my pencil tree and topped it with my salt dough v-day ornies I made last year. The word Love and some pink gingham hearts in a bowl on my table! I don't do much just a little touch!

those pantry cakes are so sweet...I bet they do smell yummy.
ReplyDeleteI don't decorate much for Valentines. I do have some dolls that have hearts on them and I bring them out more then I tuck them away.
Have a great night.
Those came out lovely! I bet they smell good too!

Those are lovely, pretty enough to be in a little shop somewhere.
ReplyDeleteDonna: Yes, you are creative! Love all your hearts especially how they look in the wooden bowl!
ReplyDeleteI actually got some red felt stuffed hearts at IKEA at Christmas which were really ornaments. I never used them so I have them piled in a wooden heart shaped bowl. And while poking around today I found some old heart shape pieces of a red and white quilt, only 5 of them but think I will string them on twine and hang as a garland on my fireplace {{HUGS}} Joy

Wanda,
ReplyDeleteI can't find a way to email you so I will leave an answer here. The Santa is an Arnetts Santa. I got him from the Country Store of Geneva online. I love him so much and you will too. Thanks for the kind comments and do come back and visit.
Hugs,
Donna
