Garden Tour part III

Please, come into my backyard, this is where we watch the birds from the windows on the back of the house. These are also my main flower beds which can be a mass of color at times, but thanks to the almost constant rain we seem to be getting, my annuals are mush and my flowers are protesting the lack of warm sunshine.

My Mom brought me this shovel when I had been working in the garden non stop, before my daughter's wedding almost 12 years ago. I miss my Mom so much and this is a gentle reminder she is always with me in my garden. We would always walk in the garden and talk there. I feel her with me many times when I am alone weeding or planting.

My shade garden...can you tell I love Hostas?

The common daylilies are starting to open up.

Evening primrose in the late afternoon.

One of the entry ways to the pool.

Steps up to the chairs where we have afternoon cocktails...my son built these steps when he was about 13 yrs. old, hmmm 22 yrs ago?

A view from the rooftop!

This is what you see as you come around the corner from my driveway.

My gardens are what we all enjoy in my family. After we work in the yard on the weekend the grandchildren will come over and we cook out and they all jump in the pool. I am sure my neighbors can hear the laughter all the way at their homes. This is the best way to spend a Sunday, something to look forward to all week

Garden Tour Part II

This part is visiting my vegetable room in the garden. It is on the south side of my home and my potting shed is located right beside it. I have 26 tomato plants, corn, squash, cukes and many types of pumpkins. Also I put zinnias and marigolds in for color and cutting, of course. There is a small raised bed filled with lettuces and radishes for now. Then on the side I have a small herb garden
The compost bin a much needed tool for the garden.

Lakeville Garden Club Tour

Come on in and join us for our local Garden tour.
The Lakeville Garden Club and Arts Council hosted a tour of 5 gardens and several art studios. They had local authors at Something Brewing a great local coffee house which is a treat with in its self. From the smiling faces who greet you to used books for sale all in our Historic Library, but I will use that for another post later, because we have a garden there maintained by the Garden Club. This is the hand painted sign that was posted in front of my home. I must have 300 pictures so lets just say this is Part I So come down the path to my pool area. Some Garden Club members came by last year and viewed our gardens....then we were sent a letter asking us to be on the Garden Tour. Little did I know how much work we would put into this. All a matter of choice I might add. Well worth the finished product.

My little bird bath tucked in the grasses.

My husband and son have built the many stone walls. We brought all the stones into our yard, none are found here naturally. Darn. Wish I kept track of how many ton!

One of the birdhouses my son built for me. I love it perched above the waterfall.

Birds eye view of the pool.

Some red lilies in the pool area.

Looking down the waterfall.

Our dancing frogs, I gave them to my hubby on our anniversary, the kids say they remind them of us. I just think they make me smile.

Looking down from the backyard.

We feel like it is OUR PRIVATE COVE!

OK time to say good bye for today. I will end Part I here. I will be posting more areas in our backyard and some photos of the other gardens as well. Each was special in it's own way. Each different and just beautiful to tour. Thanks for joining me, the sun was shining( something it has not done much of lately) People were happy and the compliments flowed, great company. After all gardeners are nice people.
I just wanted to add we spent Saturday explaining that we do all our own work. Everyone seemed so amazed, but we really enjoy our yard.

Welcome to my porch!

Lets join Rhondi over at Rose Colored Glasses for her porch party...Thanks for hosting this party it is fun and a great way to start summer. This is the front entry, I know you have seen this before~
Coming up the walk.

Or if you come in the back way, notice it is still cold here 38 degrees this morning....so the windows are still in the front and the screens are only on the back side. It is still cool for a meal on the porch.

We can sit here in the warm sunshine. This is a great spot for morning coffee.

Once the weather gets warmer, this is a cool spot to curl up and read or sit for a chat.

We can sit over here for a meal...you know when it gets to the time when there are bugs.

There is a coconut candle for a nice summer smell.

When dusk is upon us...or a rainy day.
Thanks for coming by a visiting my porch.
