12 Days to Thanksgiving!

Everywhere I go all I see is Christmas.....I still need to get ready for Thanksgiving. My whole family will be here. My daughter is home, her three children, my son will be back after a month of training. His daughter will be here too. He leaves for Afghanistan after Christmas, so I want to enjoy every minute of the holidays. I just want to enjoy Thanksgiving first. I will start my countdown, I made my list...I need to get my linens ready, dishes and silver polished .

Our Menu

Roast Turkey
Garlic Mashed Potatoes
Gravy
Peas
Cranberry Sauce
Harvard Beets
Sweet Potato Rolls
Biscuits
Lemon Meringue Pie
Pumpkin Pie
Indian Fudge
Cranberry Bread
It is plain and simple, but most abundant, no one leaves hungry or empty handed.
We are very lucky to all be here together, many families will be apart for the holidays. My son's unit will replace another unit. They will home soon. Each one sacrifices so that we can have this time together and live with freedom. Many young families are apart. I want to be grateful for every moment we have as a family. Thank you God for this blessing!

Your Thanksgiving sounds very well planned. Enjoy every minute with your son before he goes. I too have noticed that everything is Christmas. I went looking for decorative turkey for my front and not a turkey to be found. I guess I should have started back in August. I like your menu and think I might just use it myself. Not sure what Harvard Beets are though. Please tell your son thank you for serving our country. My prayers are with him. Mumzie

Hi Donna,

Please tell your son THANK YOU!! How wonderful he will be home for Thanksgiving. What a blessing.

I too am getting my day planned for the 12 of us and my dining room still looks like Thanksgiving. Our menu doesn't change - it is all traditional foods.

Enjoy your time with your son and family!!

hugs, Linda

Your menu sounds delish! And you realize the importance of family gathering and being thankful. It is very important to count our blessings & be thankful for everything. There is nothing we can ever do to thank the countless soldiers who have fought and are still fighting to protect our freedom. Please thank your son for us. I know they are just words, but come form the heart.
May God bless you all!
