Do you wonder what cookbooks others might have?

Do you ever think about that? I love to read about books other bloggers read, not just cookbooks, decorating, DIY books and most any book. I do believe cookbooks are the most interesting to me. I thought I would share a few that I like best. When we redid our kitchen a few years back I had this small area just at the entry to the pantry that I had shelves put in for my most used cookbooks.

I see a couple of our seasonal reads were stuffed in there, Scary stories and Witches of Plymouth County...great October reads along with my Susan Branch "Autumn". Just a little something to get us in a fall state of mind. I just did home made marshmallows from the Susan Branch book. Yum, they came out great.

Look at this old cookbook I found in an old cookbook store. I loved that it looked handwritten. I have never made anything from it, but love the look of it.
The Barefoot Contessa is a personal favorite. I use her books all the time. I love to watch her on the food network. I have posted about her here.

My old Good Housekeeping cookbook was my first. I got it when I got married...so it is 39 yrs. old. It is my go to book. It is used and abused. I have a brown paper cover on it and the binding is coming apart, but it has many of my favorite recipes.I learned so much from this book. My Mom was not much of a cook and what I knew came from my Home Economics class at school. So I opened a book. I learned to cook. The internet has made it so different now. Not to mention cooking shows. I find my self still going back to my books. There is so much more in them the just recipes.
So tell me do you like cookbooks? Do you snuggle up on a cool fall day with a cup of hot cider and read a new or old cookbook? Look for something new to make?

What a great post about cookbooks. I have a "few" favorites. Maybe I will do a post on them someday.Your "cookbook book shelf" is a great spot to keep them in. My recipe box is a mess, not very pleasant looking. I love your different variety of books. Thanks for sharing with us. Blessings ~Sara

Not only do I like your collection of cookbooks, I like the space that you carved out for them. I must confess that I don't use mine like I used to when I was a stay at home Mom. I now have my regular rotation recipes and don't experiment much anymore. Isn't it funny we all remember our first cookbook?

I like your nook! I have quite a few cook books also and like you, my very first was a Good Housekeeping cook book when we were first married. My mother was a fabulous cook, but I never did any cooking and only knew how to make a few things. But I love to cook and love to spend time going through the internet and blogs and TV shows. I have a really old Betty Crocker from my mother-in-law. Has quite a few interesting recipes! I love how all of your cookbooks are all together! Makes a nice display! Enjoy your day!

Love cook books! I notice we both have Susan Branch, autumn. I made her brownies the other night. I love cook books too,but don't have the nice storage you do. Mine are in the bottom of the corner cupboard and under one of the German cupboards. I love Tasha Tudors, and have a couple old Gladys Taber. My favorites are the little church cook books you can find here and there. Good post, thanks.

It is fun to browse through cookbooks and I have a few on my shelves. When looking for something vegetarian, I like Mollie Katzen's "Moosewood" and "Enchanted Broccoli Forest" (love the quiche formula she provides and have used it loads of times).
I enjoyed your post very much.

I love cookbooks! I try to buy one whenever I am travelling. I tend to go back to my favourites when cooking but you can learn so much about other areas and other cultures from looking at what they eat!

I do have a collection of cookbooks.I love thumbing through them every now and then for a new idea. Some Susan Branch also. I have been married 39 years also. Mine and your 1st cookbook are the same. My most favorite cookbook is an old beat up black one that was my mothers. Like the one you showed, it has hand written recipes in it. Written in my dear sweet mothers hand! Love, love it!

I love that you love cookbooks. I do too. I have a ton of them and keep them even if there is only 1 recipe I use in it. I am such a geek, I go to the library and check them out. Glad to see that I am not all that crazy. -Steph-
