Shutters or no shutters?

I know I have been missing in action....my camera is giving me troubles and I need to shop for a new one. I have no desire to do so. Anyway I squeaked out a couple new shots of the front of the house. We just had it painted and while the painters had the shutters down I asked them leave them off.  So now I look to you my peeps. Keep in mind we are tearing out the shrubs in front and putting in new lower plantings. What do you think Shutters?

                                                                           or no shutters

Seeing they were the same color as the trim it is not a huge difference, but I think the house will show more once the overgrown shrubs are gone. The lawn will be reseeded too. We need an overall face lift
I will post some pictures when the shrubs are gone and then when it is finished. It has rained since the painting has been done and my work has been busy, love the work, but love my social life too.

So if I can get opinions please.....shutters or no shutters?

I like shutters, but that's just my opinion. I like the look of shutters on windows. I'd do them in the color of your door. And that's my two cents! : )

Your house is gorgeous either way, but "no shutters" really makes it look older and those windows "pop"!

Your home is very pretty! I vote no shutters as I'm loving the early New England look without. Whatever you decide I'm sure it will look lovely!

I am generally a shutter person... love the look of them. Your house looks great either way, but I, myself, would go for shutters!

I love shutters but I really like the way the front of your house shines without them. If I were putting them back I would paint them to match the front door. Lovely home!!

I am with the NO SHUTTERS gang ... Looks more historically authentic with out. Either way, you have a beautiful home.

You have a beautiful home either way. I say if you are trying to decide, leave them off. A change is always a good thing. You can always put them back later if you don't like it. Love the color. Good luck with the plantings, that will be fun. Good to hear from you. Blessings~Sara

Beautiful either way but looking at both photos I think I like without the best.
To me, it seems that the windows pop more.

Your home is beautiful Donna. I think the "no shutters" makes it look early New England. What is the paint color? Love that too.

I like the shutters. It may look a little bare without them when you take out the plants.

It depends on what are you going to do with the shutters. If you're planning on leaving them like that without anything to enhance them, they're not distinctive enough and could use a repaint. If you're replacing them, consider a shutter that's designed differently from the rest of the house. You could also get rid of them, but the house would look naked.
