It didn't snow yesterday~

Yesterday was our Anniversary number 42 we spent the day  together and did a little shopping. The two best things I got was this 1 1/2 gal crock. It is different then any I have.  The other item is this big wood box. Of course because it has our name on it I had to have it.

So I did some tweaking to find a place for the new crock. What do you think of it here? I took the yellow ware out of the cupboard and replaced it with this. I may get rid of my yellow ware. Although I love it, my passion is salt glaze.

Lana's sweet bunnies made an appearance. I packed up my snowmen hoping the snow would leave with them.

So anyway it is snowing AGAIN today. It is pretty, but oh the mess!
I can't even find my stonewalls!! Buried!

Yesterday we had an ice dam up on the upper roof and my kitchen ceiling was spurting water in about four places. Lucky for us hubby heard the drip, drip at about 3:30 in the morning. He had raked the roof and cleared most everything, but the highest hard to reach spot~ Guess what? The water found a way, so we had big buckets until daylight broke and he was up there chipping away. He cleared the dam and water stopped coming in, but my ceilings are ruined. Lots of repair to do. I should be happy if he had not heard it the floors could be ruined too.

This is the most snow we have ever had here and there seems to be no end in sight. I only wonder when it melts where it will go. The ground is frozen.....heaven help us. Between the leaks and the constant snow removal I can't wait for Spring.

What is it like where you are? Starting to feel like Spring yet?

Something new

Well new to me anyway....last weekend hubby and I had a huge case of cabin fever so we went for a ride and ended up at Bernat Mills Antiques in Uxbridge. I found these treasures all in the same dealers booth. I was doing the happy dance for sure. As soon as I have time I will be doing some tweaking. I read a great article in A Simple Life on Waterglassing. It was written by Kris Casucci from Walker Homestead. I never knew why some crocks had so much white inside. It was a great article. Who knew it was how they preserved eggs back in the day?

So let me show you a few of my dream pieces...all found on Pinterest. This first one a cake crock is my favorite. I have never seen one at any dealers. Bet I couldn't afford it if I found it.

Well I needed a glimmer of Spring so I put all snowmen away and brought out some bunnies!

I always get a bit down this time of year. I am happily noticing that the days are getting a bit longer and March is just about here, but winter seems to be hanging on for dear life. I could truly move south in a heartbeat, but my hubby just loves New England and winter. Now last night we had a burst pipe in the garage because our grandson washed his car and did not turn the water off or drain the pipes. Not great to come home to a waterfall in the garage and water running down the driveway.  I sit on a board in town so I had to go to a meeting and when I get home my hubby said well after cleaning up the mess in the garage as best I could I got a phone call....our Grandson had an accident. He is fine but had three friends in the car they slid on black ice and hit another car. Everyone is fine, minor bumps and bruising, but the police made four ambulances take them to the hospital to be checked, again everyone is fine. We have to travel about 25 minutes to get there, get a tow truck, ( 2 cars not drivable) pick everyone up, get everyone home. Hubby handled all the details. Thank goodness. We are exhausted. I hate winter it is so dang cold today and I have to go show houses. Sorry for the rant, I really am tired.

~Saltglaze~

I am home here with a sore throat, trying to use my time sorting cleaning and rearranging. I started to put some of my salt glaze together for a bit more impact....I am not sure where it is going so as I wash it I am putting it on the floor. Mostly my older pieces because the newer pieces I use in the kitchen. I have had them scattered around the house. I use them to hold plants and such. I was a bit surprised as I put it all in one spot. Maybe I need a new to me old prim shelf to put it all on.

Oh boy, the dust here is unbelievable. I love how refreshed everything feels when I move dust or wash and rearrange. Now if it just warms up a bit I'll be happy.
